Mother always said....

I never knew what the phrase "This is going to hurt me more than it will hurt you"' meant as a child. I couldn't understand how if I was getting the smack, did it hurt my mom more than me. Are you kidding, MY butt was sore. Now that I am a parent, I can fully understand that phrase. Yesterday I had an incident with my niece that scared the shit out of me. To make a long story short, I couldn't find her and immediately started thinking the worst. I was knocking on doors of neighbors to find out she was never there. In the process of walking around, I stepped on a big rock and twisted my already injured knee. Fast foward a few minutes, she is found and at the house. Well, of course I was pleased that she was home but I was as pissed as any mother would have been. I walked into the house to find her patiently waiting for me on the couch. I grabbed her up and proceeded to beat her butt. I did some screaming at her about how you don't go places without me knowing, blah, blah, blah. Then I sent her home with her dad. I went into the room and started to ball. I was so upset and scared that I just lost it. Finally, when I calmed down, I realized that from spanking her I hurt my own wrist. Damn.....it did hurt me way more than it hurt her.
